On January 7, ICE agents fatally shot 37-year-old U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three and recent Minneapolis resident, during targeted immigration operations near 34th Street and Portland Avenue. Video shows her SUV moving slowly forward and backward, striking or nearing an agent before the shooting; DHS called it self-defense against what they labeled domestic terrorism, with the agent and another officer injured but recovering. The incident has deepened divides in the sanctuary city, as federal officials cite surging violence against agents while local leaders like Mayor Frey demand ICE leave and call for investigations.
